Video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy versus open lobectomy for clinical stage I non small cell lung cancer: a case-control study
نویسندگان
چکیده
This study aimed to compare outcomes following video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy (VATS) versus open lobectomy for clinical stage I non small cell lung cancer at a China center. Eighty-one consecutive patients who underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy from January 2007 to December 2013 were compared with 94 patients undergoing open surgery during the same time period. Patients were matched for age, sex, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) class, location of tumor and clinical TNM stage. Endpoints were shortand long-term perioperative outcomes. The VATS approach was associated with longer operative time, less blood loss, similar surgical margin, and decreased duration of narcotic and epidural use, similar complications and decreased length of stay. There was no difference in the number of lymph nodes harvested, 5-year overall survival and 5-year disease-free survival between the VATS group and open group. VATS is safe and effective for clinical stage I non small cell lung cancer.

The objective of the present meta-analysis was to evaluate the survival, recurrence rate, and complications in patients with stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who received video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) or open lobectomy. A literature search was conducted on June 31, 2012 using combinations of the search terms video-assisted thoracic surgery, open thoracotomy, lobectomy, a...

The aim of this study was to evaluate our personal experience with video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy and compare survival between this procedure and conventional lobectomy via open thoracotomy in patients with clinical stage IA non-small cell lung carcinoma. Between May 1997 and December 2004, 140 patients with clinical stage IA non-small cell lung carcinoma had either VATS lobectomy (VATS...

The aim of this study was to compare the long-term and short-term outcomes of video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy (VATS) with those of open lobectomy for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) between well-matched patient groups. NSCLC patients underwent lobectomy with radical intent between January 2008 and January 2013, were divided into VATS and open groups. A one-to-one propensity case-match...
متن کاملThe Era of VATS Lobectomy
Primary lung cancer remains the most lethal of all malignancies. The cornerstone of therapy for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is surgical resection by lobectomy with complete systematically lymphadenectomy (Hartwig & D’Amico, 2010). One of the initial reports on video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy was published 1994 by Robert McKenna (McKenna, 1994). Since then thoracoscopic...
